OpenVizPilot Terms of Use

Last updated: September 16, 2026

1. Scope

These terms of use apply to obtaining and operating OpenVizPilot, a Tableau dashboard extension with an AI chat, provided by WerkWorks (Mathias Werk, sole proprietor). They supplement the applicable license texts (Section 2) and yield to them wherever they conflict.

2. License model

OpenVizPilot is provided in two editions:

  • Core (all source code outside the ee/ directory): PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Core is source-available but not an open-source license. Core may be used freely for noncommercial purposes; any commercial use — including purely internal use within a company — requires a separate agreement with WerkWorks. Full text: github.com/bl0rb/OpenVizPilot/blob/main/LICENSE.
  • Enterprise (the ee/ directory): proprietary software. Production use requires a valid license key issued by WerkWorks. Terms are agreed individually. Full text: github.com/bl0rb/OpenVizPilot/blob/main/ee/LICENSE.

The scope and conditions of each license are governed exclusively by the license texts linked above.

3. Use of AI output

Chat responses are generated using a model endpoint configured by the customer. No guarantee is given for their accuracy; they must be checked against the underlying sources before use. Dashboard actions are only triggered by an active click from the user, never automatically by an AI response alone.

4. Customer obligations

The customer operates and configures the software on its own infrastructure. It is responsible in particular for:

  • selecting, configuring, and paying for the AI model endpoint and any other required infrastructure,
  • complying with applicable data protection and other legal requirements for the data processed on its infrastructure,
  • granting and controlling access rights, approvals, and user accounts within its installation,
  • using the software as intended under the applicable license.

5. Third-party providers

The customer may optionally connect additional services, including an identity provider (OIDC), Tableau Server (Connected App, REST and Metadata API), and MCP services. Selecting, contracting, configuring, and paying for these third-party providers is solely the customer's responsibility; WerkWorks is not a party to these arrangements.

6. License heartbeat

The daily license heartbeat to WerkWorks (see the privacy notice, Section 3) is a fixed technical part of the Enterprise license and serves its administration. It cannot be disabled. The Core edition does not send a heartbeat.

7. Warranty and liability

The scope of warranty and liability is governed exclusively by the license texts linked in Section 2 (PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 for Core, or the Enterprise license agreement for Enterprise). No further commitments are made — in particular regarding data residency, "zero retention," GDPR compliance of the overall system, a Tableau partnership, Tableau certification, or Tableau Exchange approval. Tableau is a trademark of Salesforce, Inc.

8. Support

Support channels and scope are described on the support page.

9. Governing law

German law applies.
